Office of the Director
Our department has a number of land use responsibilities ranging from routine zoning and subdivision permitting of residential and commercial structures, including rehabilitation and new development, to Town-wide long-term land use and transportation planning and more.
-
Conservation Division
The Conservation Commission focuses on protection of resource areas such as wetlands and vernal pools, rivers and streams, and the wildlife that inhabits these areas.
-
Flood Hazard Mitigation
Flooding can happen anywhere, but certain areas are especially prone to serious flooding. To help communities understand their risk, flood maps (Flood Insurance Rate Maps or FIRMs) have been created to show the location of high-risk, moderate-to-low risk, and undetermined-risk areas.
-
Economic Development
The Braintree Planning and Community Development office serves as staff for the various programs and initiatives for the Town’s economic development and retention efforts.
-
Historic Division
Braintree is rich in history dating back to its original inception in 1640 and earlier. The Town of Braintree values its rich historical background and promotes many of our local landmarks as places to be seen by tourists visiting the Boston area.
